Nursery Assistant

My name is Fraya and I am a Nursery Assistant in the Poppies room.

What fills your heart with happiness about your role?

A major highlight of working with the children I do is being able to watch them grow and develop confidence through learning and play. It fills me with a great sense of achievement when activities planned for children have the effect intended, whether this be making the children smile, explore their senses, or encourage a new milestone to be met.

How did you get your career started in Early Years?

I first started working in childcare through an opportunity offered as part of my course at college. From here I was able to develop a good understanding and sense of what childcare truly was about and how much I enjoyed it.

How are you supported at Monkey Puzzle to develop and progress your career?

At Monkey Puzzle I was offered the opportunity to study and gain a level three qualification in early years. This is something that I am currently working towards, and it has been very helpful to apply previous knowledge and new knowledge when providing care for the children in the nursery.

What is your potential next step?

My next steps at Monkey Puzzle would be to become a level three qualified nursery nurse and to continue studying wherever possible to further my knowledge in childcare and early years education.

What would you say to anyone with a choice of early years childcare as a possible career path?

I would encourage anyone who is interested in childcare and early years education to simply give it a go! There are so many aspects of nursery life that bring so much fun, and it is truly unlike any other job out there.
