Nursery Assistant

My name is Chloe, and I am a Nursery Assistant at Monkey Puzzle Chesham.

What fills your heart with happiness about your role?

The people that I work with. The children also fill my heart with happiness as I enjoy planning events and activities.

How did you get your career started in Early Years?

I started my Early Years career at Elmtree Breakfast Club, before moving on and beginning my career at Monkey Puzzle Chesham as a Nursery Assistant.

How are you supported at Monkey Puzzle to develop and progress your career?

Monkey Puzzle have financially supported my level 3 qualification course. I have done Paediatric First Aid training, as well as other key courses such as FGM, Safeguarding etc. I work in a room supporting the Room Leader and other qualified practitioners who have helped me gain experience whilst on the job.

What is your potential next step?

I would like to complete my Level 3, which will allow me to progress to a Nursery Practitioner. My aim is to work towards becoming a Room Leader.

What would you say to anyone with a choice of early years childcare as a possible career path?

Make sure it is something you definitely want to do because its so much more than just playing with children. It is a tough industry; however, it is so rewarding as you see the children that you support daily, grow and develop as their individual characters begin to flourish. Your aim is to care and build those secure attachment with your children, build relationships with parents and ensure each child is happy, safe, and having fun whilst learning.
