Diwali Celebrations
We’ve been super busy preparing for the Hindu festival of Diwali, which celebrates the return of Ram who was banished from his homeland and Sita who was captured by an evil demon. It celebrates the triumph of good over evil. During the festival little candles called ‘diyas’ are lit, as these guided Ram and Sita home. They also symbolise light over darkness.
The children have had lots of fun with sparklers & watching the fireworks (we used carrots as holders so that we could be safe whilst having fun). Traditionally, we also create Rangoli (colourful designs) near the entrance of the house to welcome our guests. We loved making and eating lots of yummy food & sweets, dressing up and having family time, celebrations all round!
